We are delighted to be up and running with a crowdfundraising campaign to equip five Brazilian longliners with Hookpods.

In the wildlife-rich waters off the Southern coast of Brazil, seabirds, particularly albatross, and a high number of turtles are regularly caught as bycatch in the tuna and swordfish longline fishery. We are working with Projeto Albatroz, a local conservation organisation  and part of the Albatross Task Force of BirdLife International, to deliver the equipment, assist with setting up, paying import duties and covering the expense of observer time at sea to monitor the results.

These Hookpods are slightly different to our previous model. These pods will open at 20m rather than 10m, meaning the impact could be very beneficial to turtles.

We need as many people as possible to share the link to the project, donate anything they can and leave a positive comment! With 40 supporters and just over £20,000 after less than one week we are off to a flying start. Anything you can do to help would make a big difference for marine wildlife.
